I've been so busy lately with uni work lately that I'm surprised I actually find time to update the blog. I've managed to slip in some DIY and a little bit of clothing swapping as well this week.

The Clothing Exchange was so much fun! I went in with 5 items of clothing I didn't really like any more and came out with 5 "brand new" things! I ended up getting three blazers (one of which was an oversized one from Witchery), a vintage bejewelled turquoise bat wing top and a metallic blue body con dress. I will hopefully post photos of them this weekend.
I also met the co-organiser of the event, Chantal Heaver, who is also one of our readers.

Coco and I will keep you Adelaide readers posted on the upcoming swaps as well as other events!

Have a good one!

Just realised that the colour of my jacket looks pretty inconsistent in these photos. I think it's because of the beading on the jacket and also the lighting. I'm wearing a vintage beaded batik jacket, Zara organic cotton dress, vintage belt, Topshop Mary-Janes and Zu clutch bag.

Last weekend I finished my Kinetics Test 2, Materials III Assignment, managed to slip in some DIY in the form of a pair of denim cut-off shorts and necklace that was actually a ring I purchased and broke on the same day.

The Clothing Exchange aka My Sister's Wardrobe is tomorrow night, 6.30pm at the Garage Bar on Waymouth Street! I'm so excited! Tickets are still available online for $18 or if you're like me and always wait till last minute, you can purchase tickets at the door for $20. Tickets include a glass of champagne. So girls, if you haven't worn that pretty little dress for a year or more I think it's time you let go and head over to the Clothing Exchange. Think about it, you'll be getting "new" stuff to wear!

Ok, it's back to study for me. See ya!

Fell in love with this floral blazer as soon as I saw it. Love it! Love the colour! The intricate floral design and the cut felt as though it was made for me. It goes with so many things in my wardrobe. You're definitely going to see me wearing it heaps this winter.

I'll leave you with my favourite out of the lot. Hope you like it.

PS: Had a great time being photographed by Tom. :)

What a prefect day

I have a major report due in 2 weeks and lots of study to do, but this is what Tom and I ended up doing today.

Yves Saint Laurent retrospective book

Saturday is garage sale day for me, and today was no exception. What was exceptional about today, though, was this:

$1.50 for an insprational coffee table book on all things Yves Saint Laurent, complete with a plethora of sketches and a whole chapter on Le Smoking.

It makes me feel like this. (Especially after reading that on 30 January 1958, after Laurent's first collection at Dior, Parisiens demonstrated in the streets chanting his name and proclaiming that Yves Saint Laurent had saved France. He was 22. A fashion revolutionary, indeed.)

YSL's influence knows no bounds. S/S 1978 at YSL brought this:

S/S 2009 at Prada brought this:

Then there's Veruschka's  iconic safari photograph from July 1968 Vogue Paris:

It's suffered many dubious 'homages', the latest featuring Gisele Bundchen in the upcoming June/July Australian Harper's Bazaar. I wonder what Diana Vreeland would think.

Can you imagine a 21-year-old at the head of a couturier such as Dior today?! What a prodigy.

Bleached jeans

Wearing vintage band jacket, Supre tank top, bleached Dotti Jeans and RMK Buckle boots

I didn't really like the pink of the bleached part against the royal blue so I dyed the whole thing black hoping it would make the blue parts darker. But after drying it, the white parts were dyed as well. They didn't go all black but just a lighter shade of it. So, the bleached parts are still visible but darker! I only dyed it again cos someone told me the bleached parts would not be dyed. I'm thinking of going back and bleaching it again. It will most probably work but I reckon my jeans would be pretty thrashed by then.

Hope it turns out good!

Gosh, it's raining again.

My hands are small I know, but they're not yours

THE DIY STUDDED BOOTS

Wearing vintage leather jacket, random woolen mini dress, diy circular scarf, sheer tights from England, diy studded boots and vintage embroidery bag.

These boots took me 2 hours to finish and I ended up pricking two of my fingers. I also studded my $20 Rubi heels and this black suede boots Mum got from China ages ago.

My lecture starts in 40 minutes. Have a great day everyone!

Happy Mother's Day

To the women of our lives
Thank you
For all the pain you went through to bring us into this world
For all the nappy changes
For running around the house with a spoon in your hand, making sure we eat
For all the words of wisdom that we sometimes ignore
For a whole lot of other stuff that wouldn't fit into this blog post

Thank you!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

May's shopping list

1. Red lipstick

Chanel Iman
The classic blue-red shades of yore dominate this field no longer. Try variant shades of red - I'm searching for the perfect blood orange a la Jane of Sea of Shoes

2. Cut out dresses
Freja Beha Erichsen in Narcisco Rodriguez S/S 09

Indecent exposure has come out as a prevailing theme of S/S 09, and I can't wait to play with the new silhouettes. (I'll be selling a cut-out military dress at our store soon!)
Princess: Herve Leger
Pauper: ASOS

3. Massive tote
VPL A/W 09
I really, really, really need a humungous tote for all my uni crap. And seriously, there is no way I'm spending $70 on a canvas bag that every second eastern suburbs kid has just because it says Country Road. Since when was that a brand name anyway?
Princess: Fendi
Pauper: Sportsgirl

Vintage fur jacket

I am clearly obsessed with fur at the moment. Yesterday I bought a pair of leather gloves with fur trimming. It's lovely! I'm in love and can't wait to wear it.

I'm on my break in uni at the moment and decided to do an outfit post. I was meant to have a Chem Eng (short for Chemical Engineering) practical for 3 hours but we finished early, which means longer break for me! Sorry for the really bad quality photos. The lens that I have is just the normal kit lens and I'm thinking of going one up on the lens scale. Anyone have any reccomendations? Drop me a comment, I would really appreciate it.
Oh and my classmates Michelle and Sarah say hi!
