My Vintage Shoe Collection

I think I have a fetish, a fetish for vintage shoes. I think I'm heaps better now though. When I first started getting into thrifting and vintage shopping I would pick up every single pair of vintage shoes I could lay my hands on.

These were a gift from the lovely Miss Coco

Black oxfords were from the Save The Children op shop in St Morris and brown lace up ankle boots, I forgot where I got those from.

Photobucket
These were from the Vinnies at corner of Glynburn Road and Payneham Road. Love the faux snake skin. They are kinda tight on but they're so pretty I'm willing to suffer in them.

Salvos! I'm thinking of wearing these with cutoff shorts and my half-done Alexander Wang DIY. I thought the fluffy detail was cute and they reminded me of little cowboy boots.

I'm usually not into thick heeled and platformed boots but somehow these just caught my attention. I'll probably end up studding them. Got them from the Vinnies mentioned above.

I had so many more vintage shoes before this, but due to lack of space and money I had to sell them. So I'm left with my favourites. Tomorrow I have 3 hours of class and that's it for the week! Too bad it's only for this week. Next week I start my real week of uni, so it's back to Chemical Engineering I go.

I wanna, I wanna, I wanna

I wanna DIY something.

I left Adelaide with this half-done Alexander Wang baggy long sleeve jumper DIY. I have a whole bag of scrap material that's waiting to be played around with plus some more vintage items that need to be restyled. So many ideas but so little time and lack of a sewing device. I desperately NEED a sewing machine. Does anyone know where I can get one at a reasonable price? I heard Janome is good but what about Singer?

I leave for Adelaide tomorrow. Goodbye warm and humid tropical weather and hello cold and gloomy winter!

I'll leave you with a product of last summer's DIY, ripped and dyed jeans. Do you like lemons? I do! Coco eats them like they're oranges. I have no idea how she does that.

Penny Anne

I'm sure most Adelaide girls or guys would know about the Gilles Street Markets held on the third Sunday or every month. One store that I really like and always go to is the Penny Anne stall. Well, I met the designer last month at the markets and liked her stuff so much I decided to do a feature on her.

Danielle Strong the designer for Penny Anne started out by reinventing one off vintage pieces but soon moved on to hand sewing her own designs. This led to her being involved in the BMW Fashion Parade for Young Emerging Designers. Her label continued to grow providing the girls of Adelaide with unique and affordable fashion, inspired by vintage with a fashion forward edge.

Why Penny Anne? Well, the name Penny Anne actually belongs to Danielle’s mother who plays a pivotal role in the success of the label helping to hand sew every individual piece, an attribute Danielle plans to maintain keeping that personal touch in each garment. A signature piece of Penny Anne is the backless leotard which combines luxe with confidence, a quality every Penny Anne girl possesses.

Penny Anne lets you express your unmistakable style with feminine lines and beautiful fabrics that will take you from day to night with a walk, skip and jump in the puddles along the way!

Here are some of the designs from the Penny Anne 'Bridging the Gap' range.

Danielle will be launching her next range in a couple of weeks. So I'm really excited about that! If you like what you see head on over to her website, which should be up in about 3 weeks, or you can add her on Facebook here to order whatever you want from the 'Bridging the Gap' range. If you're interested in the backless leotard, you have a choice of lace, tulle, animal print, floral or fringing for the frill on the sleeve. I personally like the tulle and floral combo.

She will be at all the Gilles Street Markets, you won't miss her stall. It's the one with all the nice clothes in it! You can contact her via email at pennyanne@mail.com or her mobile 0416 570 371 for orders.

Are you a Penny Anne girl?

I'm still in KL, had to cancel my trip to Singapore. :(

Will be back in Adelaide this Saturday. I kinda miss the cold weather. Again, sorry for the quality of the photos. I got a new lens while I was here and it's so much better than the old one! I also found this cute little vintage store in Mid Valley Megamall. Found this gorgeous gold detailed Michael Jackson looking jacket with big shoulder pads. Will post more photos soon!

Hello Malaysia

So the trip from Adelaide was so freaking long. It would usually take about 7 hours to get to KL, but being the cheapo that I am, I had to buy the cheapest and longest possible route to KL during the Qantas sale. So the trip was 3 and a half hours from Adelaide to Perth, then a 2 hour transit, 5 and a half hour flight to Singapore, an hour and a half transit in Singapore and then a 45 minute flight to KL.

What I've done so far:
  • Met up with family
  • Ate really good food
  • Shopping
  • Caught up with friends I haven't seen in yonks
I went to three Topshop stores already in the last three days and left with something each day. There are heaps of Aussie tourists here and I overheard one of them talking about buying $700 worth of Topshop merchandise. Looks like everybody loves Topshop! They had really colourful summer dresses and light cotton tank dresses with nice prints. I was looking for the floral leggings that I saw on the website, but unfortunately they don't sell them here. Also went to the Marc Jacobs store and they had the most beautiful tote in fuchsia. One can only dream.

Wearing tank tops from Topshop and Supre, diy Levis shorts, necklace made from a broken ring, shoes from Raoul and Mum's Louis Vuitton bag.

So sorry about the slightly unfashionable outfit and I was wearing flats! Felt so good wearing shorts with no tights underneath though. It is so freaking hot and humid here.

More to come!

Back with Tiger Stripes

Wearing leather jacket from eBay, vintage mesh panelled body suit, customized tiger print bodycon skirt, Sportsgirl scarf, RMK buckle boots and some random bag I got on sale at Harbourtown.

I bought this skirt from a pretty dingy looking shop in Rundle Mall called MCL. I saw it peaking out from the sale rack as I was walking past to catch the bus home. Went over to have a look and it was hideous! As soon as I thought that I changed my mind. It was mid-calf length, so I decided to make it into a bodycon skirt. I'm happy with the way it turn out.

On another note, I'm so excited that I'm on holidays! Will be in Singapore and Malaysia the next two and a half weeks visiting my family and doing some shopping here and there.

Ok, I lie, I mean doing a lot of shopping. I'm thinking Far East Plaza in Singapore and Sungei Wang in Malaysia kind of shopping. Should be fun!

Does anyone know anywhere good to shop for cheap but interesting stuff in Singapore besides Far East? Are there any vintage stores in Singapore? Would be great if someone could let me in on the info. Thanks!
