Take me away yeah....

Sorry for the absence. I've just been so busy with uni work and I just started my new part time job so been busy with that too. Also, my computer decided to die on me last week and I'm typing this using my boyfriend's laptop in the comfort of his room. Today, we decided to take a break from study and went around taking photos instead.

Wearing vintage Target oversized jumper, white Topshop racer back tunic worn over black Topshop bodycon dress, purple tights from Malaysia and Siren shoes.

I decided to wear a bright coloured scarf today to counteract the dull colour of my jumper. Somehow it just didn't seem right, so I added two other scarves for balance. The orangey red scarf is actually just scrap material I got out of the bargain bin at Spotlight. The grey one I got from Sportsgirl and I can't remember where I got the white one.

I so can't wait for spring!

DIY body chain harness

So I know this trend has been around for ages, but procrastination is my speciality. I thought I'd try a harness design that is a bit different from the typical Erin Wasson style that's all over the blogosphere. This one's inspired by the blow-your-mind-beautiful designs of Dion Lee.

Get:
About 2m of chain. (I bought 5m for $8 on eBay.)
Jump rings. ($2.50 at Spotlight.)
Clasp. (I used one from an old necklace.)
Pliers.
Chain cutters.

1. Drape the chain around your neck and determine the approximate length you want for the main chain. This will be SO much easier if you use a mannequin (dead or alive; I used my brother!). Cut it, and attach the clasp and jump ring at the bottom.
2. Cut the smaller pieces and attach them. Easy as.

I might attach more smaller bits later. We'll see.

Coco

A few more from the bU spring 2009 fashion parade!

Just thought I'd add a few more images from the bU spring 2009 fashion parade. I really enjoyed doing photography for the event and am even more inclined to get a digital SLR camera now, if that was even possible. (Thanks to Amanda whose Canon I used!)

The art direction was stunning and well-rehearsed, especially for a parade with over a hundred amateur models and dozens of brands. The Gary Castles Sydney models even brought out the shoes on trays and put them on in the middle of the show! It gets better every year.

Ride into the sunshine

Valleygirl floral dress | Vintage leather backpack | Vintage knee-high socks | Vintage David Jones loafers

A forecast of 20 degrees made a perfect Adelaide winter day to ride to university. (Saving the trees, one kilojoule at a time.) Unfortunately I don't have the perfect bicycle to match, but whatever. Amanda gave me the perfect dress!

Over the knee

Why is it so hard to find affordable thigh high boots? So sad that the ones from Topshop are sold out. Bring them back!

DIY chain vest

I was inspired by the one and only Alexander Wang and talented model Zanita to dig out the old Supre vest (or singlet, to the victims of Americanisation) and grunge it up.

Get your hands on:
Loose top
Chain, eBay
Eyelets only slightly wider than the chain, about $4-10 at Spotlight including the tool/pliers
Eyelet pliers or tool
Jump rings slightly wider than the eyelets, $2.50 for 40 at Spotlight

1. Start by making nicks in the fabric with the tip of some scissors where you want the eyelets, and use the pliers to attach them.
2. Cut appropriate lengths of chain. You'll want them to drape unevenly, so make sure they're not the same.

3. Thread the chains through and put jump rings on the inside of the top on each side.
Easy peasy pudding and pie floater.

Vintage acid wash leather jacket | Minkpink leggings | Betts wedges

Please excuse the whole leggings-as-trousers situation. I was lazing around at home most of the day and really couldn't be bothered putting some bloody pants on.

  • I turn 21 tomorrow. Am I excited? I don't know. Depends on how many presents I get. *winks*laughs*
  • No, I don't mean that.

I dreamt of sequined boots

This may sound really silly, but I DID dream of sequined boots. Then I remembered these Viktor and Rolf 80s slouchy sequined boots.

You light up the darkest nights

My package from Danielle of Penny Anne arrived yesterday! Thanks Danielle!

I wasted no time in trying it on an parading around the house in my new leotard outfits. Loving it! Loving the tulle and floral sleeves! The low back is pretty intimidating and I'm not quite sure I'm ready to bare my back. These two outfits are what I came up with.

I know I probably should have added accessories to these outfits but I only had like 45 minutes to think of what could go with the leotard without baring my back and also to take nice photos. Hence the lack of make up, funny expressions and weird poses. You will definitely see more of this leotard.

Wearing Sportsgirl dress, gifted pashmina scarf and Stella McCartney inspired shoes from Siren. Photography by T-man.

Coco and I were a bit unsure about these boots at first, but after looking at it for a while I decided I liked it because of the amazing design of the wedged heel. Stella McCartney "inspired" I call it. These boots were $269.95 when I first saw them. Boy was I happy when I saw they went down to $50 in Harbourtown. I'm sorry if I sound cheap as, but I just love bargains!

  • Uni just started last week and I'm just starting to get out of my holiday mood.
  • I'm looking forward to my friend Maz's 21st birthday party this Saturday. I've already planned what I'm going to wear!

  • Excited about the bU Fashion Parade that's on next Friday night. I'm modeling in it and we went for our fitting at Chasing Nel down in Brighton last Sunday. Should be fun next Friday! Can't wait to see how our hair and make up's gonna look.
  • I can't wait for the weekend!
