I went to school with Doran, and I remember I was in Year 12 when my sister and I first caught him sending sneaky texts to his love interest Mel. He blushed and smiled self-consciously, swift to ensure that the secret remained between us. Months later, they were going steady. A couple of weeks ago, on a Thursday night after Mel finished work, he popped the question. I couldn't be more happy for them.

So on the weekend, when Scott (the bearded half of White Wall Photography), Claire and I needed models for a shoot, D & M were the first ones I asked. These are just my photos from the afternoon, but there are plenty more on our respective Facebook pages. Claire also shot a gorgeous video, which you can watch below.

Isn't she loverly?

Westfield for less than $200

with Alyce Cowell the Westfield Insider Westfield under $200

When I meet Alyce Cowell, she's puffed. It's been an early morning, and one flight and three interviews later, the flight of stairs to the first level of Westfield West Lakes was pushing her limits. The tall, blonde stylist who rose above hundreds of bloggers and even appeared on A Current Affair to become the Westfield Insider is human after all.

It reminded me of the way I tend to approach shopping centres: flustered, time-poor, and on a mission. I'm not a leisurely shopper. Give me what I want. In one place. Now. (Can you see why Westfield centres suit me perfectly?)

I described to Alyce the look I was searching for: a bright short suit, seen at Marnie Skillings and Stolen Girlfriends Club at RAFW this year. Her reaction reflected her endearing enthusiasm for high street fashion: 'I have one from Dotti! It would have been perfect!' Endearing, because while most stylists would dismiss the chain stores, Alyce knows what it's like to shop on a student's income, having recently graduated with a bachelor of journalism.

Left: Alyce talking to Kayla Bath, who formerly designed for local label Frankie and Bath. F&B were one of my favourite labels in Adelaide, so it was sad to hear they have no plans to resurrect the label. | Right: The look from Marnie Skillings S/S 2011/12 that inspired our shopping spree.

Before long we're off, and our mission is to buy an entire outfit on a $200 gift card (disclaimer: provided by Westfield). Despite being stopped a couple of times by people who recognised Alyce, and running into local designer Kayla Bath, we managed to grab everything in just over an hour. Say what you want, but everybody needs clothes fast and cheap once in a while - for me that's usually when I've forgotten to do the washing and I need a dress for the wedding tomorrow. And that's what Westfield is all about.

Hope you like the new facebook comments system! Let me know what you think.

Free manicures at Adidas in Rundle Mall // sponsored post

Adidas + nails + free? Um, yes ploise. If you spend over $50 you can get a nail foil kit, or if you're around on any Saturday in October, there'll be nail technicians in store for manicures. I'm heading down next Saturday and looking forward to getting a set of the stripes. I think my nails will be pleased to be relieved of my awful handiwork.

Speaking of nails, this is pretty rad...

Claire Alice Young: on Internet fame, photography and perfection

Claire Alice Young The Eclective Claire Alice Young interview

If you haven't worked out yet, I've been spending quite a bit of time with Claire (you bitches should be on first name basis by now) recently. This is beneficial to the both of us because it gives her the impression that she has friends, and it also looks good for me to be hanging around someone as pretty as she is. Win-win, really.

Recently I had the opportunity to interview her for Adelaide Fashion Collective. We had plenty of fun with it, scribbled here and there (above) and here is the result. I love delving into the mind of a creative; I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Westfield Marion Fashion Translation Parades

Last Thursday I went to the spring/summer parade down at Marion, which I haven't been to years but must go more often - it was the first time I've set foot in the new General Pants there, can you believe it! (That's what happens when you don't own a vehicle!) I thought I'd share a few images of key trends on the high street from the front row.

Picnic

that time we explored someone's forest that time we lay in the sun that time we had a picnic that time we hopped a fence

We drove and drove until the road became dirt and we could smell the flora when we wound the windows down. With lunch in our bags, we marched across the meadow and over the bridge that crossed a creek that gurgled like a satisfied infant. We ate talked tanned walked sighed smiled laughed.

There's nothing more important than friendship.
