Every day is a good day to shoot a roll or two of Ilford HP5+ 35mm, which is what made me so excited to spend a couple of afternoons hanging out in the studio shooting for my old friend's debut EP. While the mixes are still in the works, you can hear his husky-toned demos on Jake's soundcloud

I do have to apologise for the quality of the scans; I'm very unhappy with all the places I've tried so far in Adelaide (various Diamonds and Camera House outlets - Atkins can be difficult to get to within opening hours). It's the first time I've had anything push processed (400 ISO pushed to 1600) and I'm thrilled with those results, though. Got any thoughts on black and white film/processing/scanning? I'd love to hear them.

Test shoot | Gina

I hope I see you on my way home redAdelaide fashion warehouse fashion shootsun flare in fashion photography vintage fashionmodel profile

FROM Rihanna to Angelina Jolie, my gorgeous model Gina has gotten every comparison under the sun. (I think she looks like Jourdan Dunn from some angles.) But this half-Indonesian, half-Australian local is set to make a name all on her own, particularly in the Asian modelling market, where she's had the most experience.

She'll be a bridesmaid in a wedding I'm shooting in September, and with the stunning bride in the combination, I know it will be a dream job for me.

Guest post | This season's trousers

Editor's note: Laura from Matches submitted this guest post and the trouser picks were just too good to pass up! Enjoy.

With long summer days fading fast, trousers are first on the autumn/winter wish list and they are literally everywhere in every style this season. When the weather starts to become a little unpredictable they are great for rainy or colder days.
Tailored trousers are a brilliant trend for the office and can be found in many different colours so you can be as daring as you like. Green and cobalt blue are bang on trend right now and so you can be sure to look ultra-stylish while at the office. Maxmara has opted for orange-red in his latest collection. They can easily be taken from day to night by swapping a fitted shirt for a sheer blouse and adding some killer heels.

Cropped trousers are great for in between days (not warm enough for a skirt, cold enough for trousers) and will give you the same options as tailored trousers. For the fashion-forward try a vivid yellow or if classic shades are more for you go with an old favourite that will never date, navy.
For casual style try a loungey palazzo style. Easy enough to be worn for shopping, walking or just snuggled up at home. A great alternative to the maxi skirt, they will look great with a fitted vest top and a statement gold necklace. They can be worn with comfy flats or dressed up with a pair of platform gold wedges.
Coloured denim is a go to trend this season and you can’t beat pastel shades this season. Lilac, mint green and candy colours are the perfect way to add some colour to your winter wardrobe even if the weather leaves a lot to be desired.

Digby & Iona | earthy jewellery by Brooklyn designer

Look, maybe novelty rings have had their moment, I don't know. But that wouldn't stop me from wearing these unisex Digby & Iona pieces by Brooklyn designer Aaron Ruff. Being in the vicinity of $100-350, they aren't pocket change by anybody's standards, but who wants to look like they're wearing something that cost less than a decent meal anyway?

Good Kappa girl that I am, though, I do wish there were more owls and fleurs-de-lys. I couldn't not include the key, obviously.

Salasai a/w 2012 picks for autumn

SalasaiSalasaiSalasaiSalasai

The 'Unchartered Territory' lookbook photography mightn't be anything to drop your jaw at, but I'm really admiring both the styling and the self-described Anglo-saxon design influences of Salasai's autumn/winter 2012 collection. The fresh label is currently only stocked physically in New Zealand, but some of their previous collections are available online. Their menswear isn't quite as strong as their womenswear, but if the progress the label has made in just five years is anything to go by, I look forward to seeing what Salasai has to offer next.

"Are you really wearing those shoes?" Dad asked as I wheeled my bicycle out the front door.

"Everyone in France cycles in heels, Dad." Duh. And with that, I cycled 40 minutes to the city, went wine tasting at a pop-up urban winery, and cycled an hour uphill home. I've never felt better.
