Hillary for President tee

Some people idolise normal pop culture heroes like Bono or Dave Grohl. (That's a thing, isn't it? People like those guys? I don't even know.) Geek in the corner over here idolises Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton. So when I saw this Hillary for President t-shirt at Urban Outfitters, the only reasonable response was FREAKOUTANDADDTOCART.

In a fortunate turn of events, it arrived the day Hillary happened to be in Adelaide, which of course made it justifiable to wear to The Look of Rundle Mall fashion parade...right?

I scanned my face

Life can be quite unnerving for a photographer without a camera. Since my beloved Canon 5D Mark II was stolen, I've been waiting on a new one to arrive from overseas, but in the mean time, the only way to scratch the itch has been to exercise patience with the sluggish process of developing chemicals as they work their magic on my sheets of film. I had to innovate. As I was thinking about this, the printer made that damn noise it does without prompting, like it was sitting there scratching its balls doing nothing in particular. It might as well have screamed eureka. The printer scans! I'll scan my jewellery! And that's why I scanned my face for you guys. I was so pleased with the results I may just have to try it again some time.

Adelaide Fashion Festival 2012 | Emerging designers and bridal showcases

It's been a little while but I wanted to share with you some of the designs I was able to see at Adelaide Fashion Festival. Each year the festival closes with a showcase of emerging designers, and it was great to see more variety than ever before. To see two menswear designers in one show is quite unusual for this town, let alone two with plenty of potential: Morning Theft and Lachy Lang. It's a reflection of the sartorial habits of the local men, and as the market grows, I'm sure we'll see a healthier dose of menswear on our runways.

The other group show in the final week was a bridal show, which also functioned as somewhat of an ode to South Australia's top models, as they really shined in the gowns. Tickets to the show were sold commercially and I could hear many a bride-to-be ogling off potential gowns. If the decent turnout was anything to go by, we can expect to see it again next year.

Testing: Kodak Ultramax 400

Untitled
A recent supermarket clearout brought Kodak Ultramax 400 film down to about $2 a roll, so I took a risk and bought the whole shelf even though I've never used it before. I could not be more thrilled with the results, but I suppose that isn't hard given that the only colour film I've used in the past is Agfa Vista. I think this will be my go-to film for a very long time. (My go-to black and white is Ilford HP5+, but shivers, it drains the wallet.)

Hit me up with any recommendations for decent cheap film, especially black and white!

West Beach SAI've had the chance to preview State of Georgia's upcoming resort collection; can anybody say amazing?! It's the perfect colour palette with blink-and-you'll-miss-them splits that set it apart for me. I'm so proud that Australia has so many great young designers in a low-mid price range that are creating original products and distinguishing Australian style.
